Medium-sized c 5 5 cm , semi-aquatic toad living along creeks and in rice paddies in southern China, Korea and Vietnam They are a member of the genus Bombina and most individuals have bright red, orange, or yellow depending on the species flash colors on their bellies, hence 'firebellies', that are thought to be used as a means of scaring off predators
