St Louis of Gonzaga, Italian saint and protector of young students, 19th century. Also known as St Aloysius, St Louis of Gonzaga (1568-1591) in priest's robes, kneels before altar contemplating a crucifix, while a gap in the clouds allows a view of Heaven with the letter (IHS) symbolising Christ.
