It was first made known as a British fish by , who has given a representation of one which was takenin Mounts Bay; where two others were obtained in the year1855. One of large size is recorded as having been taken atPlymouth. Donovans specimen was caught in the BristolChannel; and IMr. Dillwyn mentions it as washed on shore atSwansea. Two or three have been procured in Ireland, andfrom the evidence of Dr. Deguid there is reason to has occurred in Orkney.
