The banner of St Endelienta beside her shrine at the E end of the S aisle (Chanduit aisle) of her church at St Endellion, Cornwall, England, UK. The processional banner is based on the Icon of St Endelienta painted by Benjamin Carver, now in an Orthodox Monastery in Surrey. It depicts scenes from the Life of St Endelienta, a daughter of St Brychan, King of Brecon in Wales. She came as a missionary to Cornwall in the C5th or C6th, living as a hermit in the Trentinney valley south of the present church. She lived austerely on the milk of her one cow. When the lord of Trentinney killed her cow which had strayed into his grounds, Endelienta's godfather, 'King Arthur' killed him. The virgin saint promptly restored both lord & cow to life. Following her wishes, Endelienta's body was placed after death on a sled drawn by one-year-old calves set free to wander. She was buried at the place they chose, and a shrine, & subsequently, a church were sited. Two local wells are named after her.
