Wood duck male Aix sponsa also known as the Carolina Duck is a species of duck usually found in North America and is one of the most colourful of North American Waterfowl. They are also popular, due to their attractive plumage, in waterfowl collections and as such are frequently recorded in Great Britain as escapes. It shares it's genus with the Asian Mandarin Duck.
