The result of the Battle of Lundys Lane was of greatimportance to Upper Canada, as the invasion was checkedand the American army thrown back on Fort Erie, whereit remained on the defensive until shortly before the end ofthe war. The Lundys Lane Historical Society—which for overa quarter of a century had been actively engaged in pro-moting the historic interests of the Niagara Frontier, beganforming its plans long in advance to gratify this patrioticdesire of the people, and early in 1914 a meeting of theExecutive Committee of the Society was held for the con-sideration of the following phases of the celebration of theCentenary of the Battle of Lund
