The late Bronze Age tumulus at Elzière in the Cévennes region of Southern France.
The tumulus is on a hillside with a commanding view over the surrounding Cévenol countryside. It was built in the late Bronze Age (1000BC) and again in the Iron Age and the Gallo-Roman periods. It is over 20 metres in diameter, 4 metres high and built of local stone. The central funeral chamber contained incinerations. It is unique in the Cévennes region. Archaeologists have found over 200 pieces of pottery on the site and some bronze artefacts, including a decorated bronze razor. The finds are housed in a museum in the nearby town of Alès.
