This sculpture, the "Palaestrina Pieta," was first attributed to Michelangelo in 1756, but scholars now do not agree.

The sculpture known as the "Palaestrina Pieta" was first attributed to the Italian master artist and sculptor Michelangelo (1475-1564) in 1756. Today it is believed that another sculptor carved it. The heaviness of the figures and the squarish style of the composition are not Michelangelo's style.
