Kastellorizo or Meis Island, is situated in the Dodecanese Greek Islands. Although owned by Greece, it is only a short distance from the South coast of Turkey on the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. The picturesque island is dotted with colourful painted houses along its harbour and above on its steep-hilled bay. There are Christian churches and a former Mosque which is evidence of its diverse cultural and religious heritage. The island is also known as Megisti.
