He is also an etcher of distinct merit. In Kroyers art, as in that of most painters, someefforts stand out as milestones marking differentstages or work of exceptional virtue, and a briefmention of a few of them might appropriately bringthese notes to a close. Kroyer, as already men-tioned, made his delmt with portraits and studies ofheads ; he has, amongst others, painted a number ofself-portraits from different periods of his life.
