Leningrad, (St Petersburg), A War Grave in the small town of Voznesenye. Voznesenye played a vital part in the defence of Leningrad during the siege of the city,the two-and-a-half year siege caused the greatest destruction and largest loss of life ever known in a modern city. During three successive winters from 1941, the ice cover on Lake Ladoga was used to relieve the city via the Road of Life.
