Soldiers fasten flags to caskets containing the remains of members of the 3rd Bn., 502nd Inf., 101st Airborne Div., while working in a temporary morgue at Gander Airport. On December 12, 1985, 248 soldiers of the 3rd Battalion were killed in a plane crash at the airport.
