This artwork is from volume 1 of the 1847 edition of 'Pouillet's Lehrbuch der Physik und Meteorologie' by German physicist Johann Heinrich Jacob Muller (1809-1875), based on an earlier work by French physicist Claude Servais Mathias Pouillet (1790-1868).
