This sum. however, included a nominal debt to thecommissioners of the sinking fund, as holders of its stocks, to the amount ofnine hundred and sixty-live thousand eight hundred and five dollars. Withthis proper deduction the whole absolute debt may be stated at twelve millionseven hundred and thirty-one thousand five hundred and eighteen dollars andthirty-three cents.
