Two white bearded taoist figurines standing in front of a red altar in a dark shrine room. Pak Sing Ancestral Hall, Hong Kong

Tai Ping Shan Street, south of Hollywood Road, is situated in one of the first areas of Hong Kong to be settled by Chinese from the mainland in the early days of colonial rule. The recently renovated Pak Sing Ancestral Hall was founded in 1856 to house the ancestor tablets Chinese settlers brought with them from the mainland. There are several thousand wooden tablets inside and a variety of shrines, including this, to local taoist and buddhist deities.
