The records of Humboldt Countyhave been Avell preserved from the early years of the organization ofthat county and hence were chosen for this preliminary report. Thereport upon the archives of the Recorder of the City and County of SanFrancisco was chosen to illustrate the method of reporting upon recordswhich antedate the formation of the state government.
