The Fondaco del Megio is a palace on the banks of the Grand Canal in Venice in the Veneto region of northern Italy. The 135th-century building was built of brickwork with thirteen barred windows and three portals at ground level with the canal in the 13th century. It became one of the city’s grain warehouses. On its facade is a fading carving of the Lion of Saint Mark indicating that the building was the property of the Venetian Republic. It is currently an elementary school Next door is the Museo di Storia Naturale Giancarlo Ligabue (Natural History Museum)
