The blossom of the Freeport Lower Coal was seen nearthe summit of the road. It is hardly of workable size. The Kittanning Upper Coal was opened some years agonear Mr. Christys house, two miles west of North Wash-ington, but the bank has long since fallen shut, and no ex-amination of it could be made. The character of the coalis probably similar to that found in the Hockenberry open-ing near Five Points in Cherry township.
