Statue to Roberto 'Freak' Antoni Bologna Italy
Freak Antoni , pseudonym of Roberto Antoni , also known as Beppe Starnazza and Astro Vitelli ( Bologna , April 16, 1954 - Bentivoglio , February 12, 2014 ), was an Italian singer- songwriter , writer , actor , performative artist , poet and disc jockey . Founder and leader of Skiantos and considered the father of Italian demented rock, one of his main merits is having transformed the language of the young people of his time into the mocking and aggressive poetry that characterized it. He is known as a cultural agitator for his unconventionality and his revolutionary and irreverent commitment to music and art in general against the rhetoric of institutions. His irreverent and irresistible irony also struck the stagnant intellectualism of the seventies and eighties and the contradictory behavior of many pseudo-revolutionaries . Together with personalities such as Pazienza , Benni , Dalla , Guccini and Cavazzoni , he is among the symbols of the great alternative movement expressed by Bologna in the seventies and eighties that made the Emilian capital the reference point in Italy for various sectors of art . He was one of the few Italian artists of his time to have paved the way for a generation of new artists who learned a lot from his example Di lui
