Stunning views of Lake Como from the beautiful Villa del Balbianello on Lake Como, Italy

THE VILLA DEL BALBIANELLO at LENNO on LAKE COMO in Lombardy Italy was the location shooting for many movies including Star Wars Episode II Attack of the Clones, Ocean's Twelve and James Bond 007 Casino Royale. This villa was built in the 1700s on a romantic peninsular on the Lake, as a summer residence for a Cardinal. It was sold to the Visconti family but the family died out and it was again sold in 1919 to American General Butler Ames who started restoration. After his death it was sold to the industrialist and famous Italian explorer Guido Monzino. He fully restored it and it is now a museum dedicated to him and his explorations chiefly to the North Pole and conquering Mount Everest. After his death it was left to the Italian people as a memorial.
