Two monks at the Abuna Garima monastery Tigray. Abba Garima Monastery is an Ethiopian Orthodox monastery, located around five kilometres east of Adwa, in the Mehakelegnaw Zone of the northern Tigray. Two clergymen at the doors of the monastery of Abba Garima. The Garima Gospels of Ethiopia are the oldest illustrated manuscripts of Christianity. Experts placed the work in AD 1100, but radiocarbon dating has indicated that the documents were created between 330 and 650 AD.
