Mount Etna, Sicily,

Mount Etna is a famous active stratovolcano located on the east coast of Sicily, Italy, near the cities of Messina and Catania. It's one of the world's most active volcanoes and is in an almost constant state of activity. Etna stands roughly 3,329 meters high, though this varies with summit eruptions. It's about times the height of the next largest Italian volcano, Vesuvius. The mountain is about 35 km long and 40 km wide, making it the largest active volcano in Europe. The soil around Mount Etna is rich in minerals, which makes the surrounding land very fertile and perfect for vineyards and orchards. Mount Etna is a popular destination for tourists and scientists due to its unique landscapes, ski facilities, and the dramatic spectacle of eruptions. It's been a protected area within the Parco dell'Etna, or Etna National Park, since 1987, and was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2013. Despite its beauty, Mount Etna can also be destructive. Its eruptions have threatened the surrounding communities multiple times throughout history, causing property damage and occasionally loss of life.
