The instrument is so constructedthat urine flows as soon as the bladder is entered, when the trocar is with-drawn, the cannula being allowed to remain. The patient referred to was upin twenty-four hours. In about six weeks urine began to pass by the urethraand the cannula was removed. Two years later the prostate could not be man died at the age of ninety without having had any recurrence of the. Perineal drainage-tubes (Watson). Similar shrinkage and improvement have been observed after cystot-omy for stone or other cause when the enlarged prostate has been divided. Tunnelling the prostate is not as safe a procedure as the method byincision, and is not to be recommended.
