Turkish tulip figure drawn on water with Ebru technique. Ebru is the art of creating colorful designs by sprinkling and brushing pigments on an aqueous surface to later transfer the drawing to fabric or paper. It is believed that the origin of this technique dates back to the 12th century in Turkistan. The Ottoman calligraphers used Ebru to decorate books, imperial decrees and other documents, thus, Istanbul became the capital of this technique.
