This oryx is a smaller animal than the beisa, measuring about2 feet 8 inches at the shoulder, and is of a whitish colour, with adark spot on the face, and a large dark patch on each cheek, whichmeets its fellow beneath the throat; the knees and the front of thelower portion of the legs being blackish brown, and the tail-tuft horns are slightly curved.
