Search for extraterrestrial life. A software engineer working with the new Multichannel Spectrum Analyser (MSA). MSA is part of the new Microwave Observing Project (MOP) set up by the SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) institute. In the MOP several radio antennas across the world will perform an all sky survey which will cover frequencies from 1000 to 10,000 MHz. Every second, the MSA analyser examines the radio power in about fifteen million channels looking for an ET signal. MSA will also be used to monitor about 800 solar type stars at frequencies between 1420 and 1720 MHz where the total radio noise of the sky is at its lowest.
