, Hrodna, Belarus - St Francis Xavier Cathedral (former Jesuit church) in the Sovetskaya Square is a symbol of Hrodna. The Baroque cathedral was constructed between the 16th and the 18th century. It was the main architectural component of one of the largest Jesuit monasteries in Rzeczpospolita Polska. In the interwar period, after Hrodna was included into the newly created Poland, Polish people formed the majority of the city population, today they are a minority.
