Over the full range of temperature the curve representing brook trout blood with CO2 differs from the curve for the other two species in posi- tion and slope. If the addition of CO2 to the blood occurred in the tissues, the dimin- ished affinity of hemoglobin for oxygen would facilitate the diffusion of oxygen from the blood into the tissues.
