Hurricane Katrina aftermath. Huge ship grounded after the flood waters caused by Hurricane Katrina's storm surge receeded. Katrina struck America's Gulf of Mexico coast as a category four hurricane on 29th August 2005. It claimed more than 1000 lives and became the costliest natural disaster in US history.
