Michael Boris Green (born 1946), British physicist, with his teaching aid for his superstring theory. Green is one of the pioneers of string theory. His work with John Schwarz in the 1980s initiated attempts to use string theory to describe the properties of all elementary particles. Green was made a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1989, and that same year, for his work on superstring theory, received the Dirac Medal of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics. Photographed in 1989.
