Leaves plane or cordate at the base, deeply cutinto 3—5 lobes, each triangular or long and nearly lanceo-late, and somewhat cut and dentate in the same way; theincisions extending about half-way in. ~ Glabrous, butdensely covered with stellate hairs when young, especiallyon the venation beneath. Petiole green, shorter than thelimb. Stipules connate into a leafy ring round the shootand often hanging on it. Autumn leaves leather yellowto orange-brown.
