Joined hisregiment on Loudoun Heights, near Harpers Ferry, Vir-ginia, with thirty-nine men, twenty-three being assigned toCompany F and sixteen to Company H. his own assignmentbeing to Company F. Was promoted to the position ofcaptain. He participated in the following battles: Dumfries, Vir-ginia, December 27, 1862; Chancellorsville. Virginia, MayI, 2, and
