A semi-nomadic hilltribe people known as the Bunong. The Bunong are the dominant ethnic group of Mondulkiri and are believed to have been living in the area for around 2000 years. The Elephant project works closely with the Bunong people by employing members of the community at the center in various roles from forest rangers, mahouts, working at the lodge as cleaners and cooks and general maintenance.
