Civiales method, which consists in passing a sheathedblade through the stricture without the aid of a guide, theblade being then projected and the morbid structures dividedfrom behind forwards on the withdrawal of the instrument. 2. Maissoneuves method, in which the incision is madefrom before backwards by means of a blade conducted along ametal guide previously introduced through the stricture.
