La Palma telescopes at night. Stars above the Isaac Newton (centre right) and other telescopes of the Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory, La Palma, Canary Islands. This observatory is situated 2,600 metres above sea level and is home to some of the world's leading research telescopes. In the night sky are the stars of Ursa Major (the Big Bear, left), while Polaris and Ursa Minor (the Little Bear) are at middle, and the constellations Cassiopeia, Andromeda and Pegasus are on the right
