Charles Darwin. Statue of British naturalist Charles Robert Darwin (1809-1882), who proposed the theory of evolution by natural selection. This marble statue by the sculptor Joseph Edgar Boehm was originally unveiled here on the stairs of the Central Hall of the Natural History Museum, London, UK, in 1885. It was later moved, being returned here in 2008 as part of the celebrations for Darwin's 200th birthday.
