Generally unchanged conditions ex- isted in the market last week, there being about the same volume of local receipts to figure on, nearly as heavy ?California shipments as for the week ending Mothers' day and enough busi- ness to keep the floor stocks well cleared. The prices have been main- tained on most offerings, hydrangeas be- ing about the only exception to this rule. They are getting well past their high point and there are so many new spring lines seen that they sell rather slowly. Most of the stores have had a brisk sale on Ijcdding stock, but the individual sales are lighter than they have been in previous years. This is the natural consequence of the higher prices, since in former years geraniums were on sale as low as 50 cents per dozen plants, while this year the trade has been forced to charge several dollars per dozen; pansy plants are about double the prices of previous seasons and other bedding plants are up in proportion. At the same time, the increase in the number of new homes last year means that altogether about as many plants will be sold this year as in 1910. Local peonies are arriving and have been commanding a ready sale, although deliveries of California stock are not <^xpected until after Memorial day. The splendid clean-up of all southern ship- ments [Motliers' day was naturally re- flected in the orders placed for Memorial day. Local growers of sweet peas report mainly a between-season period and Yakima growers have been getting their
