LINCOLN OBSEQUIES. oclock the coffin was lifted from the catafalqueand borne on the shoulders of the veterans, to thefuneral car in waiting at the door of the City funeral car was an elegant piece of work-manship. The main platform was fourteen feetIons, eiirht feet -wide, and fifteen feet one inch inheight. On this platform, which was five feet fromthe ground, was a dais, sis inches in height, onwhich the coffin rested. Above the dais was anelegant canopy, supported by four columns, curv-ing upward at the centre, and surmounted Ity aminiature Temple of Liberty. The platform wascovered with black cloth, which fell at the sidesnearly to the ground, and was edged with silverbullion frinore; festoons of l)lack cloth also hungfioin the sides, festooned with silver stars, andalso edged with silver bullion.
