The bronze statue of the charioteer is one of the most famous exhibits in Delphi museum, in Fokida region, central Greece


This bronze statue is the most renowned of the Delphic votive offerings found nowadays amongst the exhibits of the Archaeological Museum of Delphi, one of the most important in Greece, which houses the excavations' archeological findings of the Delphic sanctuary and one of the most famous ancient oracles. The young charioteer stands on his chariot, moments after his victory. A band which symbolizes the charioteer's victory, is fastened around his head. His impressive eyes are made of glass and semi-precious stone. The monument included in addition, a four-horse chariot and a second male figure. It was offered by Polyzalos, tyrant of Gela, after his victory in the Pythian games. It is a typical example of the Classical Greek art (478-474 BC). It is considered to be the work of a great artist, possible of Pythagoras of Regio.
