Lee) and thank him for what he has done as Minister for Works,for the completion of the National Library, and for what we have heard himpromise to-day, and I am sure it must be gratifying to you to see the Minister ofPublic Instruction (the Hon. J. A. Hogue), who has Ministerial control of the PublicLibrary, with us, for he has been a good friend in lending a sympathetic ear toMr. Mitchells views and influencing the then Government to comply with hisconditions and stipulations relating to this magnificent gift, with the result that theState is now the possessor of the whole of his valuable library, which, in additionto other literature, contains
