Mud Geyser. Mud Geyser was another popular attraction for early tourists visiting Yellowstone. An eruption of Mud Geyser would expel muddy water up to 50 feet into the air every few hours. Activity ceased at the geyser in the early part of the 20th century. Jackson's original photo point for his image, located a few yards downhill from where this photograph was taken, could not be accessed due to the higher levels of toxic gasses that pool in the basins of thermal features.
