, Den Oever, North Holland, Netherlands - Raststation and monument on the Afsluitdijk (Dutch: Afsluitdijk). The Afsluitdijk is a 32 kilometer long dike that connects the province of North Holland with the province of Friesland. It was built between 1927 and 1933. With the completion of the Afsluitdijk the Zuiderzee was separated from the Wadden Sea and thus the freshwater lake IJsselmeer. The picture shows the stairway in Monumentsgebaeude, the architect Willem Marinus Dudok.
