I once had these kind of days described to me by a BBC Executive as "brown-grey days", it was a term coined by someone she was working with whom must have been a poet when describing the Lake District default weather. We don't get so many of those days up here in Drumnadrochit, the weather is generally much brighter, and colder. But today it fits! The snow of last week stayed in situ right up until yesterday when the temperature increased dramatically, melting the remaining 5" of snow that we still had overnight when temperatures remained around 7˚C. This is great for getting back out to work tomorrow, but less good for scenic photography of the winter wonderland that we enjoyed most of last week!
