Here, in addition to my duties as nurse,my trade as a seamstress came into play, and Irepaired or made over hundreds of overcoats andblankets for the men. On the 14:th of March, 1862, the regiment wasordered to Alexandria, and I was transferred to theSeminary Hospital, at Georgetown, D. C. Here Iremained nearly a year; then my health began tofail, and I received an honorable discharge. This is the story of the brave Maine woman,briefly and modestly told; but the boys who wore theblue can read volumes between the lines. Her address is ^ANCY ]Vr. Gross.
