Many improve- ments are being made at the office and the greenhouses. A new 6-ton boiler is being installed at the range of Bichard Noflftz. Julius the Florist reports business as being good. The call for bulbs has been exceptionally brisk. Some 01 the best early mums in the city are the Polly Bose, at the green- houses of S. E. Shaw. Post & Gray have some fine early mums in all the popular varieties, such as Unaka, Golden Glow, Early Snow and Halliday. H. A. Jahn, of Brock avenue, is mak- ing extensive repairs at his green- houses. W. M. P. AMHEBST, MASS. The department of floriculture at the Massachusetts Agp-icultural College is making plans for its annual fall flower show, to be held November 8 and 9. The entire flrst floor of the building, about 5,200 square feet, will be used. There will be exhibits of interest to the florist and gardener as well as to the general public. For the students in floriculture, there will be competi- tions in floral arrangement. The com- petition in table decorations will be limited to the junior class, with four- teen entries. The seniors will have a competition in basket arrangement, with ten entries. In addition to these competitions, there will be vase, plant basket and box arrangements, bouquets and corsages.
