A small-sword with chiselled hilt - belonging to the Duc de Luynes (1695 - 1758), France, circa 1720 Hollow triangular thrusting blade with remnants of gilt decorative etching. Partially gilt iron hilt chiselled with mythological figures in relief. The grip, cut in the Régence style, bears the French fleur-de-lys coat-of-arms, the opposite side bears the superimposed silver coat-of-arms of the Luynes family. Both sides of the pommel are chiselled with the reversed cipher "L". Length cm. Presumably the personal small-sword of the Duke Charles Phillipe Alber,
