In order to meet the demand for variable speed in motors for tooldriving, the Commercial Electric Company of Indianapolis, Ind.,have brought out a line of Commercial variable speed motorsspecially designed to meet the problems connected with the sub-ject. In these machines herewith illustrated (Fig. i), the varia-tion of speed is accomplished by means of a double commutatorarmature, having two different windings; but each winding is ofthe same size conductor or of the same ampere capacity.
