Bristol, UK. 5th February, 2015. Environment Secretary, Elizabeth Truss planted the one millionth tree as part of the Defra-led, Big Tree Plant scheme which began in 2010. The ceremony in Bristol's Eastville Park was hijacked by local protesters who are opposed to a new bus scheme which will see the destruction of green space currently used by local community project, Feed Bristol. Also present at the ceremony was elected mayor George Ferguson, Pauline Black of the Big Tree Plant and Sir Harry Studholme from the Forestry Commission.
