Aberdeen, Scotland, UK Friday 11th April, 2014. Mr Colin Cameron, 80 years of age addressing the SNP Spring Conference at the Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC). This is the last formal gathering before the referendum on September 18th campaigning for a Yes vote for Scotland’s independence. The conference, marking the 80th Anniversary of the formation of the party, follows the publication of ‘Scotland’s Future, a detailed blueprint for an Scottish National Party Government to deliver using the new powers.
The Conference marks the 80th anniversary of the formation of the Scottish National Party on the 7th April, 1934. “It honours the memory of all those who have contributed tirelessly to realising the goal of independence ever since; celebrates their achievements over eight decades during which they have tenaciously campaigned for Scotland’s interests; and looks forward to fulfilling their hopes and dreams with the historic delivery of a Yes Vote for Scotland’s independence on the 18th September, 2014.” “According to ‘The Scotsman’ the SNP will empty its coffers and devote all its cash to winning the referendum, the party’s national treasurer revealed. Colin Beattie said every last penny in the SNP’s seven-war chest would be thrown at the campaign. His dramatic pledge came as activists headed to Aberdeen for their last conference before the September poll. In a message to members, Mr Battie, who is MSP for Midlothian North and Musselburgh, has said the party expects to end the financial year with ‘no money at when the prize we all seek is at our fingertips. ’ SNP strategists have structured the event in a way that they hope will see their independence message transmitted via keynote speeches by First Minister Alex Salmond and Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon to a television audience of unsure voters who could decide the result of the poll.”
