He is the most imijortant character in the scene on the night of initiationunless we except the new girls. Of course they feel their importance! On initiation morninghe makes his appearance bright and early and is much in evidence all during the day. Thenew girls eye him from a distance and think it a good bluff, but when night comes they findthe bluff changed into a stern reality. As soon as Bill has performed his duties, he makes his wayinto the hearts of all the new girls; he already has a firmly established place among the old ones,and they associate him with one of the pleasantest occasions of their lives.
